Fans of Widespread Panic know all too well that we must beware of those who build monuments to themselves. We’re a pretty bright lot if I must say.
We also know that we can’t always road trip “on the road,” though it is our preferred way of hitting up awesome music – and what RoadTripMojo is all about. After all, we were given Driving Song, and Up All Night. But the truth of it is we have Airplane. Though the song does exclaim, “DRIVE my liquor down, – to Mexico!” it’s not always practical to drive.
Whether you’re into Umphrey’s McGee, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead (JRAD), the Disco Biscuits, or jam, bluegrass, reggae, country, or Americana, Cloud9 has an over-the-top gig certain to plaster some permasmile across your face.
It’s definitely not camping. We can’t even say its glamping (what we call glamorous camping). It’s a whole different flavor of immersive music. It’s intense to say the least. And it’s an ideal way to chill with 2,500 friends that share a common love.
Swag is being collected (including RoadtripMojo’s new PELP sticker), and costumes are being planned. It really is the “best day ever.” The Hard Rock Riviera Maya is the all inclusive which hosts these four-night experiences just outside of Cancun, Mexico. During our first trip to Playa, the wife and I really had no idea what was in store for us. It’s hard to describe. We’ve brought close friends from home with us, and we’ve made new friends at Playa. At the conclusion of our first trip, we boarded the flight home feeling pleasurably exhausted and looked at each other and said, “What just happened?”
So while this may not be typical fodder for RoadTripMojo, a Cloud9 adventure like Panic en la Playa has more than earned its mention. Now to try to focus on work for one more week…
I can’t wait BB!!
