When is a music festival more than people coming to experience a collection of acts? When it’s thrown amid 800 acres of north Florida woods. That’s Resonate Suwannee. RoadtripMojo had a chat with Paul Levine of Purple Hat Productions to discuss the upcoming Resonate Suwannee Festival. Slated for March 30-April 1, 2023, at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park, the third installment of the fest will pair up Essential Productions with headliner STS9, and SOSMP and Levine’s Purple Hat Productions.
Listen to the interview here.
The conversation explores the collaborations and curation that will bring to the park instrumental jamtronica group STS9, headlining a lively mix of electronic, funk, and jam artists. Others include funk collective Lettuce, electronic jam band Lotus, soul-pop group Lawrence, electronic sibling duo The Floozies, Big Something, and South Florida’s own Guavatron.
The fest, which is a spin-off of sorts from Essential Productions’ Resonance Festival, will activate two SOSMP stages. Amphitheater Stage and the Porch Stage, which Levine says will go through a production makeover for the event, will feature back-to-back and concurrent performances guaranteed to keep the music flowing.
The commitment to Resonate is a bittersweet reality for Levine: He’s stoked about what they’ve created. But it also means the loss of Suwannee Rising. “There was sadness in that,” he said. The result is a fest he hopes will attract fans of multi-genres. Look at the lineups he’s put out over the years, and you’ll see crossover of acts, genres and even previous events that had developed loyal followings.
“We hope that Bear Creek fans, Rising fans, Wanee fans, Aura Fans and Purple Hatter’s Ball fans will find something here,” he said. “We wanted to produce something all of those people could embrace as well. I think we did a pretty good job of hitting on all of those notes.”
Of course, the fest will welcome home thousands of fans who attend SOSMP music festivals as much for the camping and camaraderie as the concerts themselves. From primitive camping to full hookup glamping, there’s an experience for every camper of every style.
